Bursa Food Industry
Bursa leverages the fertility of its soil across extensive agricultural areas, combining it with export-focused companies, state-of-the-art processing facilities, significant agricultural market value, internationally accredited food analysis laboratories, and a thriving industry. This unique combination positions the city as the Agriculture and Food Capital of Turkiye, where distinctive tastes flourish.
The city is characterized by intensive production of food items, with a significant focus on fresh fruits, vegetables, livestock, and processed foods. It holds a pivotal position as the second-largest exporting city in Turkiye. Notably, Bursa's export performance in the categories of fresh vegetables, livestock, and processed foods is measured as approximately 257 million dollars every year. The processing capabilities of Bursa's food industry are also underscored by noteworthy figures. According to the 2015 Top 250 Large Companies Research conducted by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), 29 of the leading 250 companies operating in Bursa are engaged in the sectors of food, agriculture, and animal husbandry. These companies significantly contribute to the national economy, boasting a sales turnover of 8.7 billion TL and an added value of 1.34 billion TL. 28 percent of the total surface area of Bursa, which has a perfect manufacturing structure that can meet the demands of the domestic and foreign markets in the food industry, is agricultural land.
The food industry of Bursa continues to contribute to the development of both the city and the country, striving to create new opportunities for growth and expansion. With this mindset, the Food Point Business-to-Business Meetings event, organized by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the Ministry of Trade, remains a significant rendez-vous each year between leading Bursa food companies and food importers from around the world.
